Consent, safe words and house rules
Adult games are only fun when every player feels completely safe. Consent is the actual rulebook of Kinky Agency: anyone can skip any card at any time, difficulty is agreed before the first roll, and a safe word stops everything instantly.
This guide gives you a 2-minute pre-game script any group can use — couples, friends, or a party of strangers — plus house rules that prevent 99% of awkward moments.
The 2-minute pre-game script
Before touching the dice, say this out loud: "We are playing at soft/medium/hardcore difficulty. Anyone can skip any card, no questions, no teasing. Our safe word is X — saying it pauses the whole game. Everyone good?" Wait for an explicit yes from every single player.
Naming the difficulty out loud matters: it converts a vague vibe into a contract. If one person hesitates, drop one level down. The night will still be great — lower difficulty with full enthusiasm beats higher difficulty with one quiet uncomfortable player.
Safe words that actually work
Pick a word nobody would say by accident during play — a color plus a noun works well ("red panda"). One player says it, the game pauses, no explanations required in the moment.
Add a "yellow" style check-in word too: it means "slow down, I am unsure" without stopping the night. Two words, total coverage.
- Red word: full stop, game pauses immediately
- Yellow word: slow down and check in
- Never use "no" or "stop" — they come up in dares by accident
- New players joining mid-game get the script again
Skipping, alcohol and pressure
Skips are sacred: no groans, no "come on", no replacement punishments unless the group agreed beforehand. The moment skipping feels costly, consent is broken and the game should end.
Alcohol lowers boundaries, so set difficulty while sober-ish and never raise it after drinking. If someone is too drunk to consent enthusiastically, they sit out — hand them the dice-rolling job so they stay included without pressure.
Aftercare: ending the night well
End with a soft landing: the last 10 minutes are compliments-only, no cards. Check in the next day with new groups — a quick "last night was fun, everyone good?" message costs nothing and means everything.
If something did cross a line, name it plainly, apologize without excuses, and adjust the rules before the next game. Good groups get better at this; that is the whole point.
What is a safe word in a party game?
A pre-agreed word that instantly pauses the game, no questions asked. Pick something unmistakable like "red panda" — never "no" or "stop", which come up naturally during dares.
Can I skip a dare without ruining the game?
Yes — skipping is a built-in rule. Tap skip, the turn passes, and play continues. A group that respects skips has more fun, not less.
Should we agree on difficulty before playing?
Always. Name the level out loud and get an explicit yes from every player. If anyone hesitates, drop one level down.
Is 18+ really enforced?
Yes. Kinky Agency is strictly for adults 18 and older, with a birth-date gate before the game.
